Appellate
Veatch Carlson's appellate attorneys
are responsible for a number of important legal precedents upholding our
clients' interests. The firm has appeared as counsel of record in dozens of
published decisions. Because of the firm's reputation and strength in areas such
as Business & Litigation, Insurance, Professional Defense, Labor & Employment,
Tax & Employee Benefits, and Trusts & Estates, the firm's appellate lawyers
combine their skills with the specific knowledge of the firm's attorneys working
in these practice groups on the following matters:
- Writ Petitions - Preparing challenges to personal jurisdiction for our
out-of-state clients, orders compelling discovery of privileged
attorney-client communications or reinsurance documents, or petitions
seeking entry of summary judgment wrongfully denied by the trial court.
- Post-Trial Motions - Preparing and opposing motions for new trial and
evaluation of issues for appeal.
- Appeals - Analyzing of the likelihood of success on appeal, the costs of
pursuing or responding to an appeal, and the potential ramifications of an
appeal; advising clients on the filing of amicus briefs in important cases
to modify existing decisional law or make new law in uncharted areas.
