        Veatch Carlson has built a national reputation in the direct representation of domestic and international insurance and reinsurance companies in complex matters. The Firm's insurance litigators appear at every level of the Federal and State Court systems. Our coverage litigation and arbitration practice involves a variety of policy types and forms and emphasizes the representation of our clients in contract and bad faith actions, coverage matters involving multiple insurers, environmental coverage issues and the resolution of excess and reinsurance disputes.

        The Firm is renowned for its expertise in defending insured professionals, including lawyers, accountants, physicians, directors and officers, real estate professionals, insurance brokers and agents, architects and engineers, securities brokers and dealers, fiduciaries and trustees. The Firm also has extensive experience in defense of property/casualty matters, including product liability cases. We serve our insurance company clientele as supervisory counsel in monitoring litigation and negotiating coverage disputes. The Department's appellate lawyers are responsible for a number of important legal precedents upholding the enforceability of our clients' policies and defining the rules governing the business of insurance.

Policy Drafting & Interpretation
        The Firm practices extensively in the areas of drafting and interpretation of policy wording and obtaining regulatory approval of policy forms. Our litigation and regulatory background is brought into play to assist our clients' underwriters and claim examiners in better understanding and defining the nature of specific liability risks.
