JACQUELINE L. SHULMAN is a seasoned attorney who joined Veatch Carlson as a Senior Attorney in February 2020. Before joining the firm, she specialized in insurance coverage and complex litigation. She has extensive experience handling first party, third party and professional liability coverage matters in a variety of contexts, including homeowners and commercial first party claims, and third party claims involving property damage, personal injury and errors and omissions. She has represented insurance companies and the California Insurance Guarantee Association (“CIGA”) in a number of coverage actions. In addition, she has handled a number of appeals involving insurance issues. In her more than 35 years of practice, she has also handled numerous personal injury cases for both plaintiffs and defendants. She has defended cases with alleged injuries ranging from soft tissue, to traumatic brain injuries and wrongful death, and everything in between. Jackie has written and argued many dispositive motions. While she has participated in bench and jury trials, she prefers advocacy focused on negotiated resolutions. Jackie is a skilled negotiator and takes pride in being a well-rounded attorney who focuses on details. She is a tireless advocate who delves in depth into the facts of her cases to reveal her opponents’ factual and legal strengths and weaknesses. She studied Pre-Med as an undergraduate and has been a California Licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist since 1977. She usually finds something exciting and unanticipated when reviewing medical records. Jackie excels at witness preparation as well as taking and defending depositions, including depositions of juveniles who have been victims of alleged abuse.

She is AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell® (Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating, given only to lawyers with the highest ethical standards and professional ability. Approximately only 10 percent of all attorneys hold an AV Preeminent rating.) She is a Former Judge Pro Tem, Los Angeles Superior Court.

She is a West Los Angeles native, living with her husband, Harvey, on the same street where she was raised. She and her family are theatre enthusiasts attending more than 16 live performances a year (something she sorely missed in 2020 due to COVID-19). She is exceptionally proud of her two grown children.
